Pulau Dayang Bunting
(Island of the pregnant Maiden)
Pulau
Dayang Bunting or Island of the pregnant Maiden,
is situated southwest of Langkawi Island, next to Pulau Tuba (Tuba
Island). Pulau Dayang Bunting is the second largest in the Langkawi
archipelago, which is made up of 99 tropical islands.
Surrounded
in green tropical forest ,Pulau Dayang Bunting in the centre of the island lies
a large beautiful lake called Tasik Dayang Bunting ( Lake of the Pregnant
Maiden).Several lagends surround the origin of the lake. One of the popular
lagend was how the lakes’s reputed powers to cure infertility came when it was
blessed by a fairy princess.
The story
goes when the princess fall in love with a mortal prince and the couple
conceive a baby soon after, but the child died after born. It was believe that
the couple choose the lake area to bury their child and the fairy princess
blessed the lake so that any woman who has difficulty to conceive will be
rewarded and blessed with a child if she drank water from this lake.
This
location good for fishing, relaxing and seesight.
